This week the U-Space Workshop took place in Cologne and NavCert & OECON were there! This exciting workshop was organized by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
The increasing number of UAS * operations in European airspace poses a security problem: how to ensure safe drone traffic management and how to safely integrate drones into the existing air traffic environment? The airspace integration of such UAS flying objects is a major challenge.
EASA and the European Commission have now prepared a preliminary draft legal framework containing high security requirements for the establishment of a UA space (eg for the certification of U-space services and service providers and general provisions for innovative U-space services ).
This design has now been presented at the U-Space Workshop in Cologne and the principles for the U-space with all stakeholders discussed.
