Kick-off event for sAFE (Aftermarket eCall For Europe) Project

The kickoff for the project sAFE (Aftermarket eCall For Europe) took place in Hamburg on May 14th and 15th. This project, funded under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) by the European Commission's Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), aims to define standards and specifications. This will pave the way for the deployment of retrofit systems for the Europe-wide eCall based on 112 eCall. In addition to existing vehicle categories for 112-eCall, solutions for additional vehicle classes such as motorcycles, trucks, buses, ... are also described.

Representatives of 36 project partners from 7 European member countries attended this conference. Monika Stapelfeld has presented the tasks of NavCert in this project. NavCert will develop solutions to verify the compliance of retrofit solutions with requirements. This should give the buyer of the device the assurance that the device will alert the emergency services in an accident and at the same time to ensure that the emergency services are not burdened by superfluous alarms.
