eCall is the by the European Commission scheduled automatic emergency system for passenger vehicle based on the manual emergency call 112. In case of an incident or manually initiated eCall transfers first data like position and vehicle identification and thereafter the direct communication starts between public answering point (PSAP) and passenger. eCall shall be part of the type approval beginning in the year 2015. In pilot projects HeERO I and HeERO II the introduction in more than 15 member states is prepared. NavCert is responsible in these projects for the evaluation of the results in all participating member states and provides recommendations to optimize the implementation.
NavCert is a member of the European eCall Implementation Platform (EeIP) established by the European Commission. NavCert chairs the task force for PTI (Periodical Technical Inspection) within EeIP and is active as well in the task force standardization and certification. Change requests for standards EN 16062 and EN 15722 have been submitted. NavCert prepared the basics for the interoperability test of eCall and supported with experts the execution.
